HALTON-PEEL HISPANIC ASSOCIATION
We are a non-for-profit (NGO) registered with the Canadian government with clearly defined mandate and by-laws. Our initial goal is to open the first ever Hispanic Cultural Centre in this area, including a Spanish language library where we can promote our rich heritage and consolidate our space within the Canadian multiculturalism.
We hope to instill the pride of our culture in the new generations of Hispanic-Canadians; be the starting point for new Spanish speaking immigrants; and share the richness of our culture with all Canadians.
We aim to become the connecting bridge between the Hispanic culture and all residents of the Halton-Peel region.
HISTORY:The Halton Peel Hispanic Association was born out of the need for preserving and shearing our Hispanic culture in Canada through our folklore, customs, language, food and traditions. This idea was strengthened by creating and Association to represent the Hispanic people living in these regions.
Was legally established as a Hispanic Association in the Halton–Peel regions in 2008, covering the cities of Halton Hills, Brampton, Burlington, Caledon, Mississauga, Milton and Oakville; with representatives of several of these municipalities in the Board of Directors.
